In this NanoVNA-F V2 there are two ADF4350 wideband synthesizers, one for each port. The main MCU used in this NanoVNA is a GD32F103, an ARM Contex-M4 microcontroller. Next to the touch controller, there is a 25Q16 16 MB flash memory chip that is used to store the firmware and calibration data. Moving towards the middle section of the mainboard, here you can see the touch screen controller chip XPT2046 for controlling the 4-wire resistive touch screen. Here you can see a buzzer and an unidentified 8 pin chip, which unfortunately had its markings sanded off. The picture to the right is a close-up of the bottom right corner of the circuit board. Here you can see an IP5306 charging and discharging controller chip that handles both the battery charging and power bank functionality. The picture to the left below is a close-up of the battery management section of the circuit. The shielding cans were clipped on rather than soldered on making their removal an easy task. Once the riser board for the battery is removed, you can see the main circuit board as shown below.Īnd here is a picture of the main board with the shielding cans removed. On the other side of the PCB, there is a large Lipo battery (19 Wh) mounted on a riser board. On the same side of the PCB you can also see what is presumably an I2C header and a programming header. Judging from the four wire traces on the LCD we can tell that this touch screen uses 4-wire resistive sensing. The LCD touch screen is placed on one side of the PCB as you can see in the picture to the left below. The NanoVNA-F V2 is enclosed in a beautiful aluminum case, with a diagram on the back clearly illustrating the relationship among the different S parameters in a two port network. A link to the video review is included towards the end. In this blog post, I will share some of the teardown pictures and take a look at its signal generator capabilities. It boasts a 5 Ah Lipo battery that allows continuous use up to 7 hours. It features a large 4.3 inch touch screen and compared to other Nano VNAs of similar specs (50 kHz – 3 GHz), this one appears to be very well made and came with lots of quality accessories. Recently, I got my hands on a NanoVNA-F V2 made by SYSJOINT. Unfortunately, 1Password developer AgileBits seems to be moving away from its Apple-centric roots. I was a little uncomfortable with 1Password’s proprietary database format and later with how AgileBits pushed 1Password users to store passwords on, but I felt the tradeoff for less friction was worthwhile. With KeePass, I always felt like I had complete control of my password database. The original KeePass has always been Windows-only, but there are multiple KeePass-compatible apps for all platforms, and you’re free to pick whichever one is right for you. However, I always somewhat regretted switching away from KeePass, which stores its encrypted database in a standardized, open format. (For evidence of my longtime 1Password loyalty, see “ 1Password 7 for Mac Offers a Fresh Look… for an Upgrade Price,” 18 June 2018.) KeePass was always rough around the edges, while 1Password was neatly integrated with the Mac and iPhone. It was made just for the Mac and looked the part. When I moved back to the Apple world in the late 2000s, I was drawn in by the shininess of 1Password. I’ve been using password managers for a long time, starting with the open-source KeePass in Windows nearly 20 years ago. #1650: Cloud storage changes for Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive quirky printing problem. #1651: Dealing with leading zeroes in spreadsheet data, removing ad tracking from ckbk.#1652: OS updates, DPReview shuttered, LucidLink cloud storage.#1653: Apple Music Classical review, Authory service for writers, WWDC 2023 dates announced.1654: Urgent OS security updates, upgrading to macOS 13 Ventura, using smart speakers while temporarily blind. How does Nintendo feel about the emergence of video game emulators? 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. Here is a chunk of text from its FAQ on the matter:Ĭan I download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I already own the authentic game? Nintendo, for example, states in no uncertain terms that obtaining a ROM is not permitted, period. Others feel the same way about games no longer in circulation, otherwise known as abandonware. The popular argument in favor of emulators is that if a person owns a game, it's okay to grab the ROM. Game ROMs for all sorts of systems are freely available on the Internet, though the legality of them falls into a gray area, or at least the moral code surrounding them does. Under section 10.13.10 it reads, "Apps that emulate a game system are not allowed on any device family." So not only are game system emulators like the one NESbox developed banned from the Windows Store for Windows 10 PCs, they're also not allowed on Windows phones, tablets, and the Xbox One.Įmulators are popularly used to play games from previous generation consoles that are no longer being produced. Microsoft updated its Windows Store Policies page to reflect the change. Universal Emulator has been unpublished :( Apps that emulate a game system are not allowed on any device family. Visio doesn’t have a feature for “converting text to paths” as users of graphic-arts software are accustomed to calling it, but I’ve found a fairly simple way to get it done. Drawing text characters is difficult and boring, but coloring them in is really fun! That fill was done by hand with ink pens, but being able to print out just the outline for the Cooper Black font characters was really useful. Or maybe you just want to fill a letter with a tiger print, like in the thumbnail for this article. Maybe you want to create a watermark that consists of a thin outline of the text. Being able to choose different effects for the outline and the fill will help the text stand out. If the text on your shape is really part of the graphic, like in a STOP sign, then text as paths is a good idea, because in Visio, getting text to change font size as the shape shrinks and grows can be a bit of a chore (see: Text Resizing with ShapeSheet Formulas)Īnother big reason is that when you are creating graphics, sometimes you need the outlines of text characters.Ī font typically has just one color and no outline, and might not contrast against a busy background very well. Shapes that resize like any other graphic. First, by having text “as paths”, you essentially convert characters into shapes. There are many reasons you might want this. If you’ve ever wondered how to convert text to paths or vectors in Visio, then this article is for you–although the solution might not be what you expected! |
